Pink Disease results from excessive mercury exposure, including in infants with problems cutting teeth who were treated with teething powders containing calomel (known chemically as mercury chloride).  Many died or were hospitalized because of it.  Experts and authorities said it couldn’t be the teething powders – but what they eventually found showed the mercury in the teething powders caused Pink Disease.  Since the 1950’s, mercury-containing teething powders have been abandoned as a remedy.   Read more.....
