ID ME PROPERLY PLEASE
School has started in most areas and while browsing the internet I came across this articlehttp://www.huffingtonpost.com/lisa-belkin/lost-child-autism_b_1756260.html. Basically, a school bus driver dropped the child off at the wrong stop who has Autism because the teacher put the wrong identification tag on the student. WOW! I thought it was the parent/guardian's responsibility to put the bus identification tag on the child's back pack, speak to the teacher to make sure she knows where it is placed and meet the bus driver so she can identify you and your child. Perhaps, some details were left out however my point still remains. Parents ID YOUR CHILD TO ENSURE PROPER DELIVER! Things can happen and I am glad the child is safe but I believe it starts at home and it is a collective effort as far as safety is concerned.
TIPS THAT HELP KEEP YOUR CHILD SAFE!
- Clip your child's ID badge on a secure place on the backpack.
- Write the parents name or guardian with a phone number on the reverse side of the ID badge.
- Write information on the inside of the back pack that will identify your son and parents in case the badge becomes detached.
- If your child is verbal have him/her memorize related information.
- If you child is not at his or her destination by a certain time call the school bus company and the school.
